[color=#000000]By using the edge of a photoshop shape, or drawing your own curves with selection tools or even the path tool create a shape similar to above. I accually used the edge of the [i]heart vector shape[/i] as the color white.[/color]

[color=#000000][i]Right click[/i] the layer and [i]Select Layer Transparancy[/i]. Click the [i]eyeball icon[/i] to hide the shapes layer. Then on a [i]new layer[/i] with your selection still selected use the [i]Linear gradient[/i] tool white the color of white and click/drag into the selected area like above. [/color][/size]

[color=#000000]Now heading back to the light rays shapes layer, [i]right click and duplicate[/i] the layer and then using [i]CTRL + T[/i] rotate multiple copies of this shape simply rotating and scaling as you like until you get a similar or desired effect. [/color]

Now on the same layer hit your arrow keys a few times to the right to move your selection until a thin line is left. press the [i]delete key[/i] to remove the rest of the shape leaving you with only the line. [color=#000000]Now go in with a [i]Low opacity Eraser[/i] tool and brush over the lines fading them into the background. set all the line layers [i]Blending modes to color dodge[/i] and lower the opacity as you see fit. [/color]

[color=#000000]You should have something similar to above. Here we have simply used the [i]Color Dodge[/i] tool to add some intensity to the middle area of the rays [/color][/size]

[color=#000000]Press [i]CTRL + A[/i] to select the entire canvas. Now press [i]CTRL + SHIFT + C[/i] or your photoshop shortcut default for [i]copy merged[/i]. This will copy a merged version of the image to the clipboard even though your elements are on different layers. Press [i]CTRL + N[/i] for a new document or file >> new and paste the copied image. Now you can work with the document on a single layer which is handy for color dodging. [/color]
[color=#000000]Now that we have the new document, on your images layer right click and go to [i]blending options[/i]. We are going to apply an inner shadow to the entire image like above creating a 'vignetting' type effect intensifying the image with black edging. [/color]

Select the Color Dodge Tool and a small soft brush like the images above, leave the Color Dodge Range to Highlights

Now you can create various size brush marks right on the image layer. The more you click, the brigter it will get. To create the 'bloom' effect that a star would give off I tend to start with my glow size and then using the [ and ] keys to change the brush size I apply smaller and smaller brush marks to the same areas until it appears to be glowing.
